We're performing Bouffon Glass Menajoree wherever and whenever we can. We just finished a summer run at the Green Room in Manhattan and we'll be in the Dublin Fringe Festival September 16-21. Go to our website to the right for the latest news and schedules.
I'm also working on a new play by Robert Honeywell at the Brick Theater in Williamsburg. It's a political piece that'll run October and November. As of now it is still untitled.
I am very lucky to have my health, family and friends. My brother-in-law, Greg, who was diagnosed with lymphoma last year is in good health and the cancer's in remission. He's sharing his experiences online at his page Melancholy Bloud. Michelle and Greg's websites are linked to the right, too. They recently bought a farm and are busily fixing it up and enjoying the country life.
I completed the second cut of "Dirty Twin," a feature film that we've been working on for a long, long time. It's a modern movie version of Euripedes' The Bacchae that takes place in Iowa and New York City.
Audrey Crabtree, Michael O'Neill and I started working on "Dirty Twin" in February of 2003. We three flew out to Iowa that summer for location shooting near Dubuque, Iowa. We stayed with my parents in St. Donatus. They helped us every day with the production and are both actors in the movie, too. The rule of not casting your family did not apply to this movie. Both Ma and Pop are natural actors as were everyone we worked with in Iowa.
Doug Donald and Lenore Howard of Fly-by-Night Theatrics were invaluable to the shoots in Iowa and their performances are cornerstones of the movie. I think I can speak for Audrey and Michael when I say that those days in Iowa are some of our fondest memories of creativity and friendship.
When we returned to New York we brought some beautiful and inspiring footage to show our New York crew which, as always, included our executive producer, Al Ramos, and actor extraordinaire, Stuart Rudin. And work continued with some of our favorite actors in New York. I'm very excited to show the movie publicly, especially to show the work and performances of Michael O'Neill and Audrey Crabtree that anchor this ensemble movie.
"Dirty Twin" is currently running about an hour and 45 minutes long even with a new scene we filmed with my ma in March. The first cut was 2 hours so it's getting tighter. I'm showing the second cut to my partners, Al, Audrey and Michael and will go back into Al's studio for more editting based on their notes. I've also tapped the endless fountain of talent that is Miriam Daly to compose more music for the soundtrack. "Dirty Twin" is coming.
